Cover is a gameplay mechanic in Hitman: Absolution that allows Agent 47 to climb walls, sneak around enemies, protect himself during shootouts, or listen to conversations without being spotted. The system also allows 47 to hop across gaps that may exist while in cover. Additionally, NPCs may be grabbed over low cover, grabbed as they come around a corner, or pulled out of windows.
While in cover, the game's third-person camera focuses most of the attention to the area beyond the corner or cover, allowing the player to stay out of eyesight and earshot.
47 may also fire weapons while concealed behind cover. He can do so by blind firing (firing without tactically aiming), or by leaning out and taking more precise shots. Note that accuracy is severely affected while blind firing.
