Training is the introduction to Hitman: Codename 47, and was Agent 47's training, before he earned his recruitment as an Agent at the International Contract Agency. The mission introduced 47 to weapons, advanced movements, and the use of disguises to get through otherwise restricted areas.

Plot[]

Training started with 47, strapped onto a bed as an enigmatic voice ordered him to wake up, while releasing the shackles pinning him down. After leaving his cell and donning a suit that was prepared on a bench in the next room, the voice was his guidance as he was taught to overcome obstacles and was taught basic use in melee weapons and various firearms, both automatic and semi-automatic in nature.

In the end, 47 escaped from the area after killing a staff member, then used his clothes as a disguise. In a separate, unknown location, a man clouded in silhouette saw his escape through a security camera, and laughed as 47 made his way through the upper floors.

Location[]

The area's training center was dark, dank, and dirty. The walls consisted of both gray, brick-like architecture, with black and white tiling in various parts. The flooring was a sleeker tile look near #47's cell and elevators, becoming a brown, cement-like material during exercises. The entire area was connected by a series of elevators, metal doors and gates.

  • Asylum Patient - worn at the start and must be swapped for your suit to have the next door unlocked, can be worn again if so desired but must be swapped once again for the uniform worn by the asylum staff.
  • Suit - found on a bench in the 2nd room from the padded cell you wake up in. Must be swapped out for asylum staff uniform to proceed.

  • Asylum Staff - required to have the orderly open the gate as it cannot be opened from the side you approach from.

Bugs and oversights[]

  • Though not completely impossible but still implausible the elevator after the physical exercise room is on the same elevation as where 47 wakes up. As the elevator cannot be send to another level, only be called to the current one from another and there not being any other people in the area, the elevator shouldn't have been possible to be at that level.
  • There are no visible cameras nor megaphones through which Ort-Meyer would be able to observe and communicate with 47.
  • Ort-Meyer makes various mistakes in his speeches to 47: He mentions to pick up a gun from the table, which are two crates. He refers to the AK-103 as the AK-47. Lastly refers to the Fiber Wire as "Piano Wire," and refers to the Pentagon Knife as the "Pentagon/Oyabun knife. These mistakes are likely due to last minute changes in the mission and the script and recording were never adjusted accordingly.
  • If you attack the dummy in the melee training room from the front, Ort-Meyer doesn't reconize it as such as still requests you to perform a frontal attack
  • If you run backwards through the mock up town to go again, don't get stuck between the two crates along the wall. If you do, you risk getting stuck and soft locking the game.

Trivia[]

  • This is chronologically the first mission in the Hitman series, as well as the only one that takes place before Agent 47 joins the International Contract Agency.
  • The training can be skipped in almost it's entirety apart from having to kill the patrolling orderly and take his uniform.
  • This is the only mission in Codename 47 with Desert Eagle ammo as a pick-up.
  • In the room where you can perform the balcony jump, there is an easter egg. Wait for a while in a corner of the room and a recording can be heard of the developers saying hi to their parents in Danish, the native language of the developers
  • Killing the second guard before he opens the door will result in mission failure since he is the only one who can open it, so taking the first guard's clothes is necessary to get past the second one.
  • Even though this is the training mission, Agent 47 has already performed numerous assassinations. [put link to source please]
  • Though not a bug exclusive to this level, it is very quickly apparent that lamps will not have their wires viable if the option vertex lighting is enabled in the graphics menu.
