The Hitman: Codename 47 Soundtrack is the original soundtrack for Eidos Interactive's Hitman: Codename 47. It was composed by Jesper Kyd (along with the piece "Intro" being co-composed by Pierre Földes, and sound design by Jun Mizumachi), and released on May 3rd, 2005, along with the Hitman 2: Silent Assassin Soundtrack, which were both released in the same album.
The score for Codename 47 consists entirely of electronic music, which pairs well with its action based gameplay, but is much different from most of the other Hitman scores, as the others are a mix of electronic and instrumental, and sometimes vocal.
Codename 47's score wasn't originally commercially released before the dual-disc album release of both soundtracks, for unknown reasons. It is assumed that Kyd re-created certain pieces for better presentation, than using just the compressed music that was featured in-game, using higher-quality sounding instruments. This is supported by the major difference in quality throughout certain themes, such as "Main Title (Extended Version)", "Hong Kong Themes", and change in beat, sound, and instruments as heard in "Main Title (Original Slow Version)".
The album is a very good indicator of Kyd's musical style and how it has developed from its roots, especially within the Hitman franchise.
