This page aims to list gameplay concepts as they appear in the Hitman series by the game they were introduced in. As gameplay concepts can be subdivided infinitely, such a list will likely always be non-exhaustive.

Hitman: Codename 47

As the first game in the series, many of the core features were introduced here.

Hitman 2: Silent Assassin

As the main refining game of the series, it introduced a number of gameplay features that have become stable to the series.

Hitman: Contracts

As a remake of the first game in the series, and produced reasonably quickly, the gameplay innovations presented in Contracts were scant, but improved upon in the later games.

Hitman: Blood Money

Notably, many of Blood Money's new gameplay concepts were abandoned in later games.

Hitman: Absolution

With the stealth system and engine receiving a major overhaul, this game has the most readily documented gameplay changes compared to previous games in the series.
